What is recently new in Manhattan, KS?
The Manhattan Conference Center was expanded in 2020 by more than 11,000 square feet.
Also, the Courtyard by Marriott will be opening in July 2021, located in the heart of Aggieville, across from Kansas State University.
What new is planned for next year in 2022?
Redevelopment of Aggieville. The oldest shopping district of its kind in Kansas is set to become an event area, while maintaining the need to be the place for students to call home.
How is Visit Manhattan working with event planners who are planning hybrid events during 2021?
We are providing meeting planners with “Meet in Manhattan” virtual backgrounds for those that will be meeting virtually in order for the meeting attendees to feel as if they are “meeting” in Manhattan. We also provide planners with the latest in up-to-date information with restrictions, masks and social distancing requirements, etc.
How do you believe the event industry will evolve during this year and into 2022?
The meeting and event industry will rise once again. We are confident meeting planners will see the value of meeting in person. The ability to network, meet, relax in Manhattan will continue to be very important.
What interesting fact about Manhattan do most people likely not know?
Manhattan was originally set to be named “New Boston.” Our founding fathers ran aground on the KS River as they were on a Steamboat!
