SUMMARY:Hackathon Design Tips to Unleash Fruitful Innovation
DESCRIPTION:Schedule of Events \n4:00-4:30pm – Registration\n4:30-6:00pm – Hackathon\n6:00-7:00pm – Reception \nHackathons are quickly becoming the most talked about conference experiences\, as they deliver on two key attendee expectations for events: Learning and Networking. In this session\, I’ll open my playbook to share proven techniques for tapping the collective wisdom at your event/chapter to create potential solutions for all. From creating the right mindset and environment for more fruitful ideation\, to engaging a diverse set of perspectives in constructive debate and creating a new\, exciting sponsorship opportunity\, I’ll cover the full hackathon spectrum. \nParticipants will emerge from this session with tools and tips to design hackathons that reveal breakthrough ideas to address industry challenges\, while igniting cross-disciplinary\, collaborative conversations that advance learning and nurture relationships. \nWhile hackathons typically span a day or more\, participants will experience a mini-version where they will flesh out new ideas with peers\, but experience this interactive model first-hand. We will be hacking one of the following ideas: \n• Soliciting Venue Sponsors\n• Attendance at Chapter Events\n• How to Differentiate PCMA to Similar Organizations in KC \nLearning Outcomes: \n• Understand how key components can be orchestrated to create a richer hackathon experience\n• Develop two techniques that can be applied to jumpstart\, enhance and accelerate team hacking exchanges\n• Identify the essentials for designing a successful hackathon experience \n  \nJamie Murdock is Vice President of Sales at Experient\, a Maritz Global Events Company and has the responsibility of leading the strategic sales team\, who is cultivating new customers for the organization. He is passionate about inspiring his team to be curious and encourages collaboration across all departments and a wide array of resources. He holds a BS in Business from Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration. Prior to joining Experient\, Jamie led the national sales team for Disney Destinations. He also held sales executive leadership roles at Zentila\, Hyatt Hotels & Resorts\, and Gaylord Hotels\, where he was recognized as the Sales Person of the Year and received its CEO’s Leadership Excellence Award. Most recently he was awarded Citizen of the Year by Experient and named one of the Top 500 People in Events by BizBash in 2018. \n  \nSee Who’s Attending\n  \nThank you to our 2019 Diamond Sponsors:
