Heartland Chapter Creates Regional Day of Service

By: Sarah Morrissey, CMP, Director of Meetings and Events, Distinctive Meetings Inc.

On Friday, June 16, the Heartland Chapter formed a regional Day of Service by volunteering at the Boys and Girls Club in four different cities within the region. Over 20 volunteers in Tulsa, St. Charles, Kansas City and Olathe participated.

The Boys and Girls Club is a fantastic organization that provides summer day camp and after school care to families with the aim to help the kids develop the skills, values and self-esteem they need to reach their greatest dreams.

During the Day of Service volunteers spent their time facilitating fun and interactive activities, playing games, helping kids work on their reading skills with the Kansas Reading Roadmap (KRR) Program, organizing donated books and enjoying the company of some energetic kiddos.

Furthering the Day of Service, donation checks were delivered to Operation Breakthrough, Kansas City Veterans Center and Unleashed Pet Rescue using the proceeds from the PCMA Heartland Chapter 2017 Auction and Awards Dinner.

We are thankful and proud of the hard work and dedication of our Chapter members. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedules to give back to your communities. We are excited to see how the Day of Service expands in the future.
